Weekend Wrap-up

The first Annual Celebrity Classic got off to a stormy start on Friday with several celebrity flights being delayed due to weather. Just about everyone was stuck sitting on an airport runway somewhere in the country!

When the last arrival of the day was complete, everyone rolled into the vans and headed out to The Saint nightclub for a heavenly kick-off party sponsored by Heineken.

Tigger jumped on the mike to give a shout out to all of his guests who were in the house and Dennis Scott, Tank, Willa Ford, Sean Patrick Thomas and Terrell Owens all partied into the wee hours of the morning with Mc Lyte and Darrin Henson. Sam Cassell, Steve Francis, Cory Alexander and Nick Van Exel stopped by to get their party on also.

On Saturday, everyone headed to Six Flags for a down home picnic and to have the ride of their lives on one of Six Flags' crazy roller coasters! The celebrities split up into three groups and went their separate ways to ride Spiderman and see the Bat Man Stunt show. Allen Iverson joined in on the fun and got his toes wet while Sean Patrick Thomas entertained his sister and a few additional family members who lived in the area. After a few hours, everyone took a much needed time out to get busy on the crab cakes, steak and chicken at the picnic pavilions. The meal ended with some good old fashion ice cream, a perfect ending on such a hot day!

After returning to the hotel from Six Flags, we could see Lara Beth and the Rouge staff busy preparing the hotel for the much anticipated pajama party. All the hustle and bustle got everyone excited about the evening to come. Many celebs donned pajamas from the Sean John selection sent by Dorian. It was great to see Elton Brand, Corey Maggettee, Warren Sapp, Slim and Q from 112 sportin' their pjs. But Elton, what was with the do-rag?

The pajama party featured an open bar and an array of passed hors d'oeurves. The Hip Hop Honeys were the featured guests and several models acted as a living canvas for our celebrity artists. They made guests Steve Francis and Tank do a double take! And Method Man and Redman soon got over being mad about missing the fun at Six Flags!

When the celebrities returned to their rooms they were surprised by a sweet gift bag from PUMA, filled with goodies from companies like ZIRH, D&G, Kenneth Cole, MTV, Mecca, Triple 5 Soul and Balance Bars.

Sunday came early as all participants boarded the bus for Showplace Arena. The teams were to enter the building and start the press conference right away, but the enticing smell of the spread prepared by Showplace catering was too hard to resist! After a tasty lunch, the players were ushered to the stage for a quick little Q&A and then rushed to the locker room to begin dressing for the big game.

The clock started and the two celebrity coaches began their game strategy. But there was no sign of Kelly Price…….her plane was sitting on the runway in Atlanta! We were prepared to go with the instrumental version when we got the call over the radio that Kelly was in route. She arrived at the arena and decided to sing the anthem in her street clothes. After doing her thing by singing the song the way it's supposed to be sung, Ms. Price put on her uniform and then put it down on the court! Corey Maggette and Chris Wilcox coached the Wizards, led by Donald Faison and Terrell Owens. The Bullets were coached by Elton Brand and Allen Iverson and were led by Tigger and Warren Sapp. Each team did its share of trash talk! Former NBA player Dennis Scott got in the game along side local legend Lonnie Harrell. While LA LA, Tiffany and Free showed that the ladies had game too! You go girls!!! Shout out to Willa for the great hustle…..hope your knee is betterJ

When the final buzzer rang the score was 83-84 the Wizards! All participants enjoyed the gift room and photo ops before heading back to the hotel to change for the all white championship party at Platinum. The white party was a stunning end to a great weekend! Everyone was decked out in all white lookin' "so fresh and so clean". Monday morning brought fond farewells to new friends and promises by one and all to be back again next year!
