Trouble, Triumph in *NSYNC Land

(Katrillion) -- Life is definitely interesting for the boys of *NSYNC.

While Lance Bass continues to train in hopes of making a space mission this October, Russian officials have said that the ambitious boy bander has missed a payment deadline that may prohibit him from going where no pop star has gone before. In all, sponsors will need to front $20 million for the trip.

"His backers have sent us a letter asking us to set back the deadline to Aug. 9," Sergei Gorbunov, a spokesman for the Russian Space Agency, told Reuters. "If they do not pay up on the 9th, I don't know what will happen. Maybe we will follow their wishes again, and wait again. But we cannot wait forever."

Meanwhile, Chris Kirkpatrick's world is looking up and down at the same time. His junior clothing line, Fu Man Skeeto, has gone out of business. But he can thank his lucky stars that he has been selected to host the Miss Teen USA pageant on Aug. 28 with Willa Ford, who recently told us that she reads Katrillion every day.

Thursday (Aug. 8) is a big day for JC Chasez, who celebrates his 26th birthday. Perhaps he'll take a date to watch Broadway's "Rent," which has featured Joey Fatone in the narrator's role since Aug. 5.

For once, it's Justin Timberlake who is keeping the low profile. He may be holed up in the studio recording his solo album with the likes of the Neptunes, P. Diddy, Angie Stone and Brian McKnight.
