U Love Them...NOT!

Learning to like the girls you love to hate

There's no doubt about it - legions of girls all over the world are enjoying the plethora of boy bands that pop music has had to offer up over the last several years. However, with every boy bander exists the possibility of the inevitable girlfriend, that seemingly perfect creature that stands between the fans and the bands. Lately, many fans have been expressing their distaste for these lucky (or not-so-lucky, depending on how you look at it) gals who have earned the affections of some of your favorite popstars. From susperstars like Britney Spears to up-and-comers like Willa Ford, no past or present girlfriend has been left completely unscathed from negative fan comments. When Popstar! recently met several of these young ladies, we found them to have charm and confidence, two reasons to envy them that have *nothing* to do with having (or ahving had) cute boyfriends. Read on to find out why we've embraced these girls and why we think *you* should give them a chance as well!

Target: Willa Ford

Boy-band involvement: Ex-girlfriend of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys

Why some dislike her: Willa's rabid "anti-fans" have labeled her abusive, rude, untalented, and manipulative. And that's just for starts!

Why we like her: We admire her strong opinions and self-assured style. This is one 20-year-old who knows what she wants and is working hard to make her dreams come true.

Why you should love her: Willa's first single "I Wanna Be Bad" is a girl-power anthem that oozes strength. It will also make you get up and dance upon first listen and leave you wondering, "Nick who?"

Overheard: "We all talk about the anit-fans," she told us exclusively. "I'm tired of talking about them. It's time to talk about the fans. Just because the fans don't spend 24/7 to show everyone how they feel, the show me. They're really there to support me and that's what it's all about. I really couldn't care less about anti-fans." The blonde beauty went on to tell us, "As long as there's one fan to every 10 that hate me, I'll still keep doing this. Everybody has anti-sites--I just happen to have them a little early on. Unfortunatly, I've had to prove myself more than the average person. But that's fine! I know I'm a stong enough person now. I've even surprised myself with how strong I was. I'm just going to look at the positive."
